Electronic Industries AllianceWe are very pleased to share with you that the Electronic Industries Association  has renewed its sustaining membership in NERC, and that the Connecticut Daily Newspapers Association has renewed its supporting membership in NERC. 

It is through the active participation and support of its Advisory Members that NERC is able to provide the strength of multi-stakeholder involvement and problem solving.

Mark Your Calendar Now for October 16 – 17, 2007 – NERC FALL CONFERENCE

Plan on joining us for NERC’s Fall Conference on October 16 -17, 2007 at the Hotel Northampton in Northampton , Massachusetts .  The Conference will provide you with sessions and speakers on some of recycling’s hottest issues.  Look for the preliminary agenda on the NERC website in June.  Contact Mary Ann Remolador, NERC’s Conference Organizer, for more information.

Boat Wrap Collection & Recycling Program Overview Now Available

Boat wrap collection and recycling was one of the topics discussed at NERC’s Spring ’07 Conference.   An overview of the past and current efforts to recycle boat wrap in the ten Northeast States is now available on the NERC website. RHODE ISLAND

RIRRC Earth Day Celebration a Success

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation hosted an Earth Day celebration on April 7th at the Narragansett Town Beach .  The event included recycling collections for computers, cell phones, household hazardous waste and alkaline batteries.  A beach cleanup was also part of the event and volunteers were treated to a barbeque at the end of the day.

An impressive 56,000 pounds of household hazardous waste was collected and Rhode Island residents brought almost 37,000 pounds of broken or unwanted personal electronics to the event to be recycled.  Nearly eight tons of trash was collected from the shores of the Narragansett Town Beach and surrounding area. 

RIRRC partnered with Rhode Island Chapter of Surfrider Foundation, the Town of Narragansett , and Coastal Resources Management Council to sponsor the Earth Day activities.

EASTERN TRADE COUNCIL: China International Environmental Protection Exhibition & Conference - June 18 – June 24, 2007

You are invited to participate in a trade mission to China .  The mission will focus on environmental development requirements in China .  It will also assist Northeast companies pursue export and other new business opportunities in China by introducing them to key host government decision-making officials and to potential private enterprise business partners.  Contacts will also be provided for U.S. companies interested in joint venture entrepreneurs.  And, assist new-to-market firms to gain access to and understanding of the Chinese   market.  Promote new business or U.S. companies already operating in China .

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:  The mission will concentrate on the environmental technologies sector, including industrial waste management and waste collection and treatment.

Participation is not limited to these sectors.  All export-ready companies with a business interest in the China market are encouraged to participate on the mission.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This trade mission covers the cities of Hong Kong and Beijing and provides an excellent opportunity to exhibit and market your services and products to the Chinese market. It will focus on the CIEPEC trade show, matchmaking between mission participants and their Chinese counterparts from Hong Kong and Beijing .

PARTICIPATION FEE

A fee of $3,000 will apply for each company representative.  This fee entitles you to participate in all aspects of the business program, including seminars, hospitality events and ground transportation to and from business program events (where applicable).
