Environmental Benefits Calculator: For more than a decade, NERC has housed a unique environmental benefits calculator that was based upon the EPA WARM model, but included features and material streams that the WARM model did not.  With recent additions to the EPA WARM model, that tool has now caught up with, and exceeded, the NERC Calculator.  As such, the NERC Calculator is no longer being published and maintained.  Instead, please visit the EPA WARM model.  Local governments are able to generate EPA WARM model reports using Free accounts in Re-TRAC Connect™; a Web-based system used by governments and organizations to efficiently collect, measure, benchmark, and report recycling and solid waste data. The EPA Warm Model reports become available to users after entering tonnage information using the tonnage tracking feature in Re-TRAC Connect. NERC will continue to publish state-specific fact sheets about the environmental results achieved as a result of reuse and recycling, but will use the WARM model for future reports.

Explaining the Connection Between Climate Change & Recycling: A Layperson's Guide, a short, easy-to-understand PowerPoint presentation that explains the relationship between climate change and recycling.  The intended audience for the presentation is the general public, decision makers, and others who may be interested in the issue but who are not recycling professionals. The PowerPoint includes speaking point notes.   We invite you to use it as frequently as you’d like.  For more information, contact Lynn Rubinstein.

Comparison of Solid Waste Master & Management Plans in the NERC States This unique resource provides an overview and comparison of the waste hierarchies and goals and objectives of all the Solid Waste Master & Management Plans in the 10 NERC states, including hyperlinks to each plan.  The resource also includes a table that details which states have identified product stewardship as a priority in their plans and which have identified source reduction or recycling as a priority in their climate change plans.  Links are provided to each state’s climate change plan.  For more information, contact Lynn Rubinstein.
