Job Description
NERC is seeking a driven and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about environmental sustainability and material circularity, currently pursuing a degree in environmental studies, sustainability, or other related field(s). This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the operations of a mission-driven nonprofit working at the intersection of policy, programs, and environmental stewardship.
In this role, you will work closely with NERC’s Development and Program Manager and collaborate with other staff on a variety of projects. Responsibilities may include helping to keep our digital platforms current, ensuring timely responses and organization of external inquiries, and contributing to the smooth coordination of ongoing initiatives. The position offers a dynamic, behind-the-scenes look at how a regional environmental nonprofit operates day to day.
Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in NERC’s committees, which bring together businesses, trade associations, nonprofits, sustainability professionals, municipalities, and others to discuss emerging issues in recycling and materials management. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive student looking to gain experience in nonprofit operations and environmental program support.
Details:
The NERC Sustainability Resource & Data Management Internship would last approximately 8 weeks with the potential of extending into a part-time position. This is a fully remote, paid, part-time position.
- Up to 20 hours/week, $15/hr
- Within the hours of 8am – 5pm Eastern Time
Job Responsibilities
- Support the management of NERC's website by updating resources, event information, and more.
- Work within NERC's CRM platform Neon to maintain organized data and information
- Updating NERC resources such as information guides, state resources, member information.
- Attend Committee Meetings with NERC Staff, compose memos, and transcribe notes
- Potential to assist in the planning of a NERC webinar
- Potential to attend and work at NERC's Conference in Boston, MA October 6 – 8.
- Perform a variety of administrative functions for NERC's staff as needed including research, outreach, and more
- Organize, compile, and sort through administrative documents
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program, preferably environmental studies, non-profit management, or other related fields
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe, with an ability to become familiar with other programs and software as needed, such as CRM databases
- Experience or familiarity with website development is a plus
- The ideal candidate will be located in the Northeastern United States
Compensation:
Hourly wage is $15/hour.
